3 Different Colours, 3 Different Looks!

Hello!

I'm back again with another post about colour and to introduce some of my new products (for those of you who haven't been following me on Facebook).

If you've been paying attention you'll know how much I love colour, and you may also know how much I like creating complex patterns. Sooo it seemed sensible that I base my latest print collection on something that incorporates both those elements!

Pinterest has provided me (and all of us) with inspiration from around the globe on a huge variety of subjects. I took a virtual trip to India and Morocco in search of interesting colour combinations, textiles, architecture and design.

After recovering from a sensory overload I got to designing!

I did think about combining all the products into one big, super colourful example but instead I decided I would show you three ways to achieve Indian/Moroccan fusion in your home using three different colour schemes.

Indian Jewels

This first colourway is vibrant and fun. Mix and match patterns together for an eclectic look or pair with plains to brighten up your living room, bedroom or kitchen.

Shop the products:

Moroccan Emeralds

Whether it's a statement wall, a refurbished dresser or just a few carefully selected accessories green is in in a big way! Scatter a couple of these cushions on your couch and your friends will be green with envy! (sorry, couldn't resist) :-P

The Tropical Room

With Summer approaching I thought it would be a good time to write a post that celebrates that time of year! This week it's all about tropical home decor!!

Tropical Bathing

One of my favourite accessories when it comes to tropical decorating is plants! Adding greenery or fresh flowers to a room can really bring a sense of outdoor living inside! If you're not the green fingered type try incorporating plants into your bathroom another way; maybe with a great painting or shower curtain.

Shop the look: Artwork, DENY Designs shower curtain (top), DENY Designs shower curtain (bottom), bathroom accessories.

Tropical Sleeping

I absolutely LOVE this bedroom! The wall covering and the painting give this room a really cool retro vibe while the mixed prints on the bed keep it modern. If you're planning on putting lots of prints together make sure you establish a colour scheme. Adding a highlight colour like the blue in this bedroom keeps things interesting.

Shop the look: Lamp, Kess Inhouse throw pillow, DENY Designs throw pillow, duvet.

Tropical Dining

Colour is essential when creating a tropical room. The exposed wood looks great here set off against the bright furniture! If you're not a fan of painted furniture there are plenty of other ways to inject colour into your room. A great table setting might be all you need! How about adding a tropical print table cloth or some chair covers? Maybe a piece of artwork? Colourful tableware can go a long way to creating a tropical vibe. You could even create a simple centre piece by adding a nice vase or plant. Whatever you use, remember to look for colours that highlight others in the room.

Shop the look: Tropical dinner set, artwork, throw pillow

Tropical Living

Creating a gallery wall is a great way to add interest to any room. The important thing is to stick to a theme whether it be colour or subject. Look for pieces that relate to each other in some way and continue the theme with other accessories. This will keep your room looking cohesive.

The Bright Room

I had so much fun putting together my last colour post that I thought I'd do another! This time it's all about bright colours! Personally I love bright colours and like to make use of them at every opportunity. Here's a few ways that you can use colour in your home, sparingly or not!

Bright Bathing

The bathroom is a great place to add a splash of colour! Hanging artwork can add character to any room. Try selecting a few colours from your favourite painting and picking them up in other areas of the bathroom; an assortment of sink accessories, a shower curtain, a selection of colourful towels, the possibilities are almost endless!

Shop the look: Shower curtain (left), shower curtain (right), bathroom accessories, bird artwork

Bright Dining

Using white in a room is a great way to break up colour but it also creates the perfect backdrop to show it off! If you're not a fan of white walls (or you have a troop of crayon wielding toddlers) look for accessories that are colourful and white! This will keep your space looking bright and fresh all year round.

Shop the look: Throw pillow, place mat, clock

Bright Sleeping

Layering is a great way to add depth to a room. If you have a colourful, patterned duvet like this one try pairing it with a plain or geometric throw blanket. Add complimentary throw pillows to really tie this look together.

Shop the look: Throw blanket, duvet, throw pillow.

Bright Living

If you're timid about painting an entire room in a bright colour try painting a single wall. Not only will it liven up the room it will also give it a focal point. Look for accessories which incorporate the wall colour, maybe you already have a favourite throw pillow or vase? Why not pick a colour from that, choose a wall and start painting!

Shop the look: DENY Designs throw pillow (left), DENY Designs throw pillow (right), Society6 throw pillow ,mug set

The Blue Room

I love blue! It's often my go-to colour when designing new patterns, in fact I have a number of blue products on sale. This got me thinking about blue interiors so I decided to compile a small collection of images of my favourite blue rooms and how you can get the look!

Blue Dining

I love mix and match prints! To me it's the best way to make a room look co-ordinated and finished without being too 'matchy-matchy'. Pairing solid colours with geometric prints or florals helps to break up the pattern and stops the room from looking too busy.

Shop the look : Mirror, throw pillow, place mat

Blue Sleeping

Don't be afraid of prints!! The patterned wall in this room adds a focal point and helps tie all the other blues in the room together. When creating a feature wall look for a piece of art that compliments the other items in your room. If you can't find one, make one! Or how about adding a colourful message board?

Shop the look: Message board, sheet set, throw pillow, duvet

Blue Living

If you're timid about mixing prints why not start with a patchwork throw! This will give you an instant eclectic look. You can add complimentary throw pillows and other accessories later.

Shop the look: Throw blanket, throw pillow (left), throw pillow (right)

Blue Bathing

A funky shower curtain is the perfect way to add flare to your bathroom without breaking the bank. Keep your bathroom chic by sticking to a colour scheme and adding accessories that show off your personal style.

Shop the look: Deny Designs shower curtain (top), Deny Designs shower curtain (bottom), shower curtain (right)

I'm back!

Hello all!

It's been such a long time since I've written anything here that I feel I owe anyone out there still reading an explanation!

Well I've been busy expanding my horizons! I've found new ways of sharing my work with the world and sadly that has taken me away from this blog (although, I hope you'll be glad to hear, not completely!). I'll still be posting the big, important and possibly life changing things here but for moment to moment 'hey look at this funny picture of a cat' updates you can find me on Tumblr (I promise to keep pictures of cats to a minimum unless in the form of cutting edge illustrations).

I have also recently joined the ranks of Fine Art America and have installed a handy slideshow to the left of this post...you can look for it, I'll wait...cool right?! So that's another place that you'll be able to purchase my work, or just look at it...maybe share it a little, that's helpful too :)

Now this wouldn't be a very good come back post (yes that is what this is) if I didn't have some new products to share with you! So to start things off here is the latest line of products from DENY Designs

I thought I was into the quatrefoil myself but I think I'm starting to lean towards the baroque. Any thought? By all means comment away!
If you would like to view all designs available in this range please click here.

I've also been hard at work putting together some snazzy new iPhone & laptop cases which can be found here. Here's a little taster to rouse your interest...

From top left: Ombre Damask iPhone case
                       Ombre Damask2 iPhone case
                       Ombre Damask iPad skin
                       Ombre Damask2 iPad skin

There are many other products adorned with these designs to choose from including a rather dashing pillow (even if I do say so myself). If you are interested in purchasing any of these items please follow the links above.

I have a few more things up my sleeve for the coming months so I'll do my best not to be too illusive. In the meantime don't forget to check for updates on Facebook and Tumblr.

Ciao for now! x
