Quick Fix: Couch

Hi guys!

My Grandma recently had her couch cushions replaced with some shiny new ones. This left her with some rather large (and not too happy looking) extras which she had every intention of throwing away. Until, that is I convinced her to give them to me so that I could add a much needed couch to my study.

Here's what the cushions looked like before I'd worked my magic on them.

To give you an idea of just how old these cushions are here's what they looked like when they were new.

That adorable sleepy kid in the picture? That's me!

Anyway, I still don't quite have the funds to properly cover the cushions and do exactly what I'd like so I came up with a cost effective temporary solution.

By stacking the two long pillows on top of each other and aligning the three small ones along the wall I've created a couch. Then, using offcuts of fabric which I already had I covered the old fabric.

You can find some of the fabrics featured on this quick fix couch in my Spoonflower shop.
You can also find my floral cushion at Kess Inhouse!

Oh and let's not forget the all important before and after!

Spoonflower Weekly Contest: Mid-Century Cocktail Dress

Yes, it's that time again!

This week's contest brief was to design a fabric for a mid-century cocktail dress. The winning design will be produced and used in an up coming stage production of 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'.

I decided to enter a recolour of my 'Pink Birds' design (which you may remember from such products as shower curtains and iPhone cases to name a few).

I'm in love with this new colour palette but understand that some voters may need a little more convincing! With this is mind I used my superior Photoshop skills to put together this mock-up of a completed dress!

Sadly my fashion illustration skills are not quite as awesome as my Photoshop skills! Please direct your praise towards Victor Stiebel for that!

This is a great contest with a really cool prize so please take the time to vote if you like my design!

Thank you :)

'Stardust'

Hey guys! As you may have guessed I did not win (or even place in) the Spoonflower weekly contest with my David Bowie design. As expected I was nudged out by a flurry of American patriotism.
The good news is that there are lots of other Ziggy products available to buy here.

Here are just a few for your viewing pleasure!!

Spoonflower Weekly Contest: Stars & Stripes

I had a lot of fun creating my design for this week's Spoonflower contest so I thought I'd post the sketches!

If you're wondering what the hell kinda fabric would be covered with drawings of David Bowie I'll tell you.

This week Spoonflower challenged it's members to come up with a design using stars and stripes.
I'm sure this theme is meant to conjurer images of red, white and blue, pictures of eagles, flags and Uncle Sam; a design bursting with American patriotism. Of course there's nothing wrong with all that (especially this close to the 4th of July) but I am not in fact American. Being a non American I saw this as an opportunity to step outside the box and inject a little of my own home turf into the stars and stripes. And so I give you.......

STARDUST!!!!!

I won't exactly be making my next party dress out of it but I figured it might make a couple of cool, kitsch cushions!
